About us
Two years ago, Belgian travellers Jacqueline and Renee started Seanut while backpacking through Central and South America. Struggling to find natural, organic peanut butter, they began making their own in Guatemala which quickly became a hit among fellow travellers. Now based in Sydney, Seanut continues to source organic peanuts from Latin American farms that support local communities, handcrafting each jar with care.

Guatemala
February, 2022 – We land in Guatemala, craving some proper, healthy peanut butter. But all we could find in the supermarkets were overly processed jars. So, off we went to the local markets (mercados) and farms in Antigua, Guatemala, picked up some peanuts, and decided to make our own!
Nicaragua
March, 2022 – As we travelled through Nicaragua, we kept refining our peanut butter recipe with local ingredients. Fellow backpackers were keen to try it and started asking if they could buy a jar. Next thing we knew, we were riding local buses with 40 jars of peanut butter, selling it in three different hostels!

As we journeyed through Central and South America, we eagerly experimented with local ingredients like cacao, sugar cane, and coconut. Every discovery unlocked new flavours and textures, inspiring us to craft unique recipes that capture our adventures in every bite.
Our quest for ingredients took us on breathtaking tours of local farms, where we immersed ourselves in the natural beauty and rich biodiversity of each country we visited. These experiences deepened our appreciation for the natural world and the ingredients we use.
Australia
August, 2023– We decided to explore Australia and quickly fell in love with Sydney. But staying in Australia comes at a price which led us to work on a banana farm in Queensland. During this time, we decided to make Seanut official because we finally found a home for it: Sydney.
We invested in a peanut grinder and a trusty, if slightly rusty, van named Bruce. We also found the perfect supplier, committed to working with sustainable farms in Central and South America. The incredible team at Frank's Deli welcomed us into their kitchen, which became our production space and the spot where we began selling Seanut. With that, Seanut was officially born ❤️

Soon, we began selling at weekend markets, which was an exciting opportunity to connect with customers face-to-face and share our story. We started in Bondi, but quickly expanded to markets in Manly and Paddington.
Sometimes we take Bruce on a road trip up the coast and sell at markets along the way. It’s incredible to see people's reactions and connect with new Seanutters. Each trip brings a sense of fulfilment as we expand our community one market at a time.
Sourced from Latin America, handcrafted in Sydney, with love.
